Connect your first spreadsheet
Updated
Start with one spreadsheet and one clear view. Brightsheet reads your data; it never edits the original. Follow these steps at your own pace.
Create your workspace and review billing
Choose Get started, create an account and confirm your email address. Enter your business name, what you track, timezone, plan and billing currency. Review the total and renewal terms in checkout. Monthly plans include the first month free and require a payment method. Once checkout completes, return to Brightsheet; if access has not updated yet, use Refresh billing status.
Choose a connection
For OneDrive, open Sources, add a source and select Connect OneDrive. Sign in to the personal or work Microsoft account that owns the workbook. Approve read access, browse its folders and choose an .xlsx file under 5 MB. Some work accounts need administrator approval. You can send your administrator the Microsoft approval request instead of changing your organisation's security policy.
For Google Sheets, copy the reading address shown in Brightsheet. In Google Sheets, share your spreadsheet with that address as a Viewer, then paste the spreadsheet link into Brightsheet. You do not need to publish it to the internet.
For a one-off snapshot, upload an Excel or CSV file. Uploads do not update automatically; upload a replacement when the source changes. SharePoint is also available through the existing administrator-approved connection.
Preview before saving
Choose the worksheet and the row containing your column headings. Match the suggested fields to your columns, check dates and numbers, and choose a unique record identifier. Use one record per row and keep notes in separate columns. Confirm the preview, give the source a useful name and save it.
Check your first update
Open Sources to see the latest sync time and result. Connected sheets normally update every 15 minutes. Check that an example record on the dashboard matches the source before relying on it for work. The dashboard reads saved spreadsheet values; save your workbook edits in OneDrive before expecting them to appear.
If a connection stops working
If OneDrive asks you to reconnect, sign in using the same Microsoft account. Check the workbook still exists and that account can open it. If Microsoft says administrator approval is required, ask your organisation's administrator to review Brightsheet. If the file is too large, keep the rows you need in a smaller workbook. Older .xls files need to be saved as .xlsx first.
For Google Sheets access errors, check the reading address still has Viewer access. If headings changed, revisit the column mapping. An uploaded snapshot needs a replacement upload to show new data. A failed card can be updated in Billing; a cancelled or paused self-service subscription must be restored before automatic sync resumes.
Disconnect, invite people or change your plan
The OneDrive picker includes Disconnect and pause OneDrive workbooks. Reconnect the same account to resume their automatic updates. To change accounts, remove the old OneDrive sources first. Invite colleagues from your workspace, give each person the access they need and keep ownership with the person responsible for billing.
The workspace owner can review a plan change, update payment details, download invoices or cancel at the end of the current term from Billing. The original spreadsheet stays yours.
